12 Best Laptops for Bloggers in 2024 (Written By A Blogger)

If you’re reading this, you’re likely on the lookout for a laptop for your blogging business.

Blogging isn’t just about typing away your thoughts and hitting that ‘publish’ button. There’s so much more involved – researching, editing photos and videos, SEO and keyword research. It’s a lot!

You need a laptop that can keep up with your creativity and workflow, without giving you that dreaded spinning wheel of doom, or worse… the black screen of death!

If you’re a travel blogger constantly on the move or a food blogger who also dabbles in high-res photography, you’re going to need a laptop that can handle it all.

On the one hand, you need a laptop that’s powerful and dependable enough to handle your typical workload. But on the other hand, if you’re always on the go, like travel bloggers, it needs to be lightweight and portable too.

As a blogger of four (yes four!) blogs, I know the importance of having a reliable and efficient laptop to support your passion. Especially for those moments when you have 32 tabs open at a time – you know who you are.

When my last laptop gave up, I wanted to do the research to find the best one for my needs before making the all important purchase. In the meantime, I borrowed a friend’s old – and I mean ’90s old – Alienware ‘laptop’. I say ‘laptop’ because the thing weighed almost 15lbs. Getting through airport security with that thing was an adventure!

But, it did the job while I was figuring out what was needed.

And with that in mind, I’ve pulled together a list of the 12 best laptops for bloggers in 2024.

I’ve tested out a few of these gems myself, so you’ll get firsthand insights to help you make the best choice for your blogging needs.

Buying Guide

So what should you be looking for when purchasing a laptop for blogging? Here are some factors to keep in mind:

Blogging often involves multitasking, such as researching, typing, editing, and uploading content. You’ll need to have a laptop with enough power to handle these tasks. The recommended minimum specs are:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 256GB SSD

These should suffice for smooth performance, but you can always go for more advanced features if you like.

As bloggers, we’re often on-the-go, and a lightweight, slim laptop will make life a lot easier. Look for laptops that are:

  • Weight: Under 2 kgs (4.4 pounds)
  • Thickness: Less than 20mm (0.8 inches)

Battery Life

Long battery life is one key aspect I always look out for when buying a laptop. I don’t always work from home, often choosing to work remotely at coffee shops or co-working spaces. A laptop with at least 8 hours of battery life would be ideal, letting you work without being glued to a power socket.

We spend hours staring at the screen, so a laptop with a comfortable and vibrant display is essential. Consider the following:

  • Screen Size: 13-15 inches (to balance portability and comfort)
  • Resolution: Full HD (1920 x 1080) or higher
  • Panel type: IPS (for better colours and viewing angles)

Keyboard and Touchpad

A comfortable keyboard is definitely important, since lots of typing is involved in blogging. Look for a laptop with a backlit keyboard and decent key travel. A responsive touchpad with multi-touch support also comes in handy for navigating the screen and editing content.

We often need to connect our laptops to various devices or accessories. So, you’ll want to ensure the laptop has the necessary ports, such as USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and an SD card reader.
